ELA /Religion at a Glance

5th Religion 

Students are learning about following in Jesus’ footsteps.  They are discussing the Paschal Mystery and the seven sacraments.  They put together and presented a commercial to convince people to becoming Jesus’ followers.

5th ELA

Students are learning about story elements and how they are important to understanding a text.  They read various short texts with the theme of “Challenges”.  From these texts, they will write a compare/contrast essay using the writing process.

6th ELA

Students started their Unit 1 in My Perspectives.  They are reading various texts that connect to the essential question: What are some of the challenges and triumphs of growing up?  In connection to that, they are also reading their trade book The Young Landlords.  They are writing personal narratives with the essential question in mind.

7th ELA

Students started their Unit 1 in My Perspectives.  They are reading various texts that connect to the essential question:  What can one generation learn from another?  In connection to that, they are also reading their trade book Stand Tall.  They wrote an explanatory essay and will be writing a nonfiction narrative.

8th ELA

Students started their Unit 1 in My Perspectives.  They are reading various texts that connect to the essential question:  What are some of the milestones on the path to growing up?  They studied how the author uses symbolism to add meaning to the text.  They created monologues and presented them to the class.  They wrote a compare/contrast essay.  They will be working on their nonfiction narratives.  They started reading their trade book Rules of the Road.
